Easterseals compiles data and statistics on the progress of education, employment, healthcare, and transportation for adults and kids with disabilities.

61 million American children and adults live with a disability.

7.2 million or 15% of all public-school students ages 3-21 years old received special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in academic year 2020-2021.

Consumers with disabilities and their families possess $22 billion in buying power and $490 billion in disposable income.

Our mission is to enrich lives and expand opportunities for all children and adults in our communities, including people with disabilities. Since 1945, Easterseals DC MD VA has supported thousands of children, adults, veterans, and caregivers with life-changing disability services.

  • Adult Day Services administer clinical care for adults with developmental, intellectual, medical, and chronic disabilities.
  • Child Development Centers provide early care and education for children of all abilities in inclusive classrooms.
  • Early Intervention serves infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays, and their families.
  • Respite Programs host center-based respite activities for wounded warrior families and families of children with disabilities.
