Comcast’s Misty Allen Brings Passion for Empowerment to Easterseals Board

A leader in forging connections that empower people, Misty Allen has joined the Board of Directors of Easterseals DC MD VA. 

Allen serves as the Vice President of Government and Community Affairs at Comcast NBC Universal, where she manages relationships with policymakers and community organizations in the Beltway Region. She helps lead Comcast’s commitment to bridging the digital divide so that all citizens can have the connectivity that enables success in school, work, and life.  

“For me, serving on the Easterseals Board of Directors is personal,” Allen says. “My desire to serve stems from a lifelong connection to the mission of empowering individuals with disabilities and creating community for all, especially our older adults. I have a family member who lives with a disability and I've witnessed both the challenges and the triumphs that come with caregiving for him, ensuring his world is as big and full of opportunity as he wants.” 

In addition, Allen’s father is a veteran, so she feels a particular affinity for the sacrifices made by those who serve and by their families. “Easterseals’ commitment to supporting veterans, through employment services and community reintegration, is something I feel passionate about. Serving on the Board gives me the opportunity to honor my father's legacy while helping ensure that other veterans receive the support they deserve. It's a privilege to help guide an organization that makes such a profound impact on individuals and families in our community."
