DC Council to Vote on Budget for Pay Equity Fund & Child Care Subsidy Program

Easterseals DC MD VA supports the District of Columbia’s Early Childhood Educator Pay Equity Fund. The fund supplements the wages of childcare and early education teachers to be more competitive with their DC Public Schools counterparts. To fully fund the pay equity initiative, an additional $6 million is needed.

Additionally, we support the District’s Child Care Subsidy Program, which assists families in paying for care. To cover families currently enrolled in this subsidy program, an additional $5 million is needed.

Before the Council’s July 28 final vote on the budget, please email DC Councilmembers and urge them to fully fund the Pay Equity Fund and the Child Care Subsidy Program in the FY26 budget.
