Defying the Odds

Rowena has seen wonderful progress in her mom Almabella’s recovery since attending Easterseals Adult Day Services.

Almabella was an active senior who volunteered at food pantries and walked three miles a day. In 2019, Almabella suffered a brain aneurism, which required her to endure intensive rehabilitation therapy. Rowena had to quit her job to care for her mother, who doctors said would never walk or talk again. Rowena, however, believed her mother could recover if she found the right care.

Rowena enrolled her mom in an Easterseals Adult Day Services center, where she received physical and speech therapy and support for her cognitive recovery. Almabella has since regained her speech and enjoys chatting with her friends at the center, as well as participating in art therapy, bingo, and daily exercises.
