Finding Hope After Unemployment

The loss of a key contract forced Paul to close his auto repair business, leaving the Navy veteran without a way to support his family.

Paul, a Navy veteran honorably discharged as an Aviation Support Equipment Mechanic, unexpectedly faced significant challenges after his auto repair business of nearly 20 years lost its key contract. Financial strain, medical issues, and the threat of losing his home left Paul searching to rebuild his career and support his wife and two children. 

Paul connected with Easterseals Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP). His case manager provided individualized assistance to help Paul pay his mortgage and other bills, as well as support his mental health. With guidance from Easterseals, Paul secured a well-paying position as manager of a trailer services shop near Baltimore. 

With work boots, gloves, and transportation assistance provided by HVRP, he regained stability for his family and the possibility of one day reopening his garage.
